September Luncheon with Illustrator James Yang

According to the Harvard Gazette, creativity is tied to mental illness. James Yang—a high-profile illustrator from Brooklyn, NY—has all but embraced that sentiment. If consistently creating award-winning work for the likes of Amnesty International, Time Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal wasn’t enough to make one crazy, Yang recently started a popular comic strip, The Impolite Gentleman, has written/illustrated two children’s books, teaches at Parsons School of Design and tries to stay on top of the ever-changing media and digital worlds. Not to mention that he’s pretty good at investing and poker.

Join us on September 16th to hear Yang speak on a number of issues that make William Cromie’s article [http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/2003/10.23/01-creativity.html] on creativity and insanity ever more convincing.

BUSINESS PEOPLE—Creativity is not confined to a single department. Gain insights on how a creative mind takes tools of the trade to boost the other business aspects of the day-to-day.

MEDIA TYPES—Illustration is an old art. One that must adapt to the changing landscape of media. Hear a creative pro’s perspective on the opportunities new channels provide.

MARKETERS—Marketers do their best to create compelling messages in the simplest way possible. See what goes on inside the mind of someone who must do just that with one illustration.
CREATIVE TYPES—We shouldn’t have to tell you why to come.
